2nd Aion Digital Art Prize 2026-2027
International call for digital and media art
Deadline: 1 March 2027, 23:59 GMT
Aion Laboratory, a division of Ise-Shima Art Company in Japan, invites artists of all ages and nationalities to enter the second Aion Digital Art Prize. The competition welcomes individual and collaborative works exploring the expressive possibilities of digital media. Previously exhibited or awarded works are eligible.
Eligible practices include computer and electronic art, digital installations, interactive systems, multimedia, video art, animation, sound art, music, augmented reality, virtual reality and other new media. Audio-only works are welcome. Artists may use AI as a creative tool if they explain its use and purpose; works made solely by AI are not eligible.
One Grand Prize comprises JPY 50,000 and a printed certificate. Up to 35 further entrants may receive Aion Digital Art Prize certificates. Results will be announced by email and on the official website on 5 May 2027. Printed certificates will be dispatched within two months of the results announcement.
The entry fee is JPY 3,000 per work and is non-refundable. Each additional work requires a separate application and payment. Applicants submit an accessible online link to their work and a description through the official form, then pay by credit card or PayPal. The work must remain accessible to the judges until the results are announced.
Aion Laboratory members assess originality, individuality, new possibilities for digital art and the technical ability to realize those ideas. Members do not judge entries by closely connected applicants, including their students or relatives.
Artists retain copyright. Entry grants the organizer permission to introduce, share and exhibit submitted work on its website and in promotional materials. Applicants should read the complete rules, which also cover award conditions and the organizer’s right, after consultation with the judges, to withhold awards or amend the rules where justified.
